Job Description:
A waiter or waitress plays a crucial role in providing excellent customer service in restaurants, cafes, and other dining establishments. They are responsible for ensuring that customers have an enjoyable and satisfying dining experience. The primary duty of a waiter/waitress is to take orders, serve food and beverages, and maintain a clean and organized dining area.
Key Responsibilities:
• Greeting and Seating Guests: Welcoming guests as they arrive, escorting them to their tables, and providing menus. Making them feel comfortable and assisting with any initial inquiries.
• Taking Orders: Accurately recording customers’ food and beverage orders, ensuring to note any specific dietary requirements or special requests.
• Serving Food and Drinks: Delivering orders to tables in a timely and organized manner, ensuring the correct dishes and drinks are served to the right customers. This includes serving alcoholic beverages responsibly and complying with age restrictions.
• Checking on Customers: Regularly checking back with diners to ensure they have everything they need, addressing any concerns or additional requests, and maintaining a pleasant demeanor.
• Clearing Tables: Removing used dishes, utensils, and glassware from tables between courses and after the meal. Preparing tables for the next set of guests.
• Processing Payments: Presenting bills to customers, processing payments accurately, and returning change or processing card transactions. Handling payments with professionalism and honesty.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in order taking and serving.
• Stamina and ability to stand for extended periods.
• Basic math skills for handling payments and making change.
• Knowledge of menu items and ability to describe dishes to customers.
