Chef / Commis Chef

Description

A hotel and restaurant is seeking qualified candidates for Chef / Commis Chef positions. The role involves food preparation, cooking assistance, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and supporting smooth daily kitchen operations while following established food quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, chopping, and portioning.
Assist with the preparation and cooking of menu items according to recipes and instructions.
Support senior chefs during food preparation and service.
Prepare basic sauces, salads, garnishes, and other assigned food items.
Maintain proper portion sizes and presentation standards.
Ensure food is stored correctly and handled according to food safety procedures.
Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
Monitor kitchen supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
Follow proper food handling, hygiene, and safety procedures.
Assist with receiving and organizing kitchen supplies when required.
Minimize food wastage through proper preparation and storage.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.
Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.

Requirements:

Previous experience as a Chef, Commis Chef, or Kitchen Assistant is preferred.
Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and portion standards.
Good attention to cleanliness and detail.
Culinary or hospitality training is an advantage.
Candidates with relevant experience in hotels, restaurants, catering, or food service operations are welcome.
Freshers with relevant culinary training may be considered for entry-level Commis Chef positions.
